Gene Dosage at the Autoflowering Locus Effects Flowering Timing and Plant Height in Triploid Cannabis

نویسندگان

چکیده

There is demand for early-flowering cannabis ( Cannabis sativa ) cultivars to hasten harvest and avoid late-season detrimental weather conditions. A field study greenhouse studies were conducted evaluate the effect of gene dosage at autoflowering locus on flowering timing diploid triploid hybrids between photoperiod-sensitive parents. Autoflowering × all photoperiod sensitive, but their critical photoperiods longer than homozygous plants, which resulted in earlier flowering. For genotypes, decreasing allele (A), from AAA AAa Aaa, reduced time Flowering genotype Aa was intermediate Aaa AAa. These results provide evidence incomplete dominance locus. Plants flowered 32 40 days genotypes AA, 15 Aa, ready by second week August Connecticut. as tall other studied, suggests that they have similar yield potential. The use tetraploid (aaaa) maternal plants combination with (AA) pollen parents produce seed a reliable approach developing flower production purposes.

Genomic dosage effects on heterosis in triploid maize.

The genetic basis of hybrid vigor or heterosis has been debated for more than a century. A popular hypothesis to explain this phenomenon is that there are different slightly deleterious recessive homozygous alleles in the two parents and that these alleles are complemented in the hybrid so that the biomass and fertility exceed both parents. To address the complementation hypothesis in a direct ...

Two independent loci control agamospermy (Apomixis) in the triploid flowering plant Erigeron annuus.

Asexual seed production (agamospermy) via gametophytic apomixis in flowering plants typically involves the formation of an unreduced megagametophyte (via apospory or diplospory) and the parthenogenetic development of the unreduced egg cell into an embryo. Agamospermy is almost exclusively restricted to polyploids. In this study, the genetic basis of agamospermy was investigated in a segregating...

Effects of gibberellic acid on primary terpenoids and delta-tetrahydrocannabinol in Cannabis sativa at flowering stage.

Plants synthesize an astonishing diversity of isoprenoids, some of which play essential roles in photosynthesis, respiration, and the regulation of growth and development. Two independent pathways for the biosynthesis of isoprenoid precursors coexist within the plant cell: the cytosolic mevalonic acid (MVA) pathway and the plastidial methylerythritol phosphate (MEP) pathway. However, little is ...

Gene Dosage Effects at the Imprinted Gnas Cluster

Genomic imprinting results in parent-of-origin-dependent monoallelic gene expression. Early work showed that distal mouse chromosome 2 is imprinted, as maternal and paternal duplications of the region (with corresponding paternal and maternal deficiencies) give rise to different anomalous phenotypes with early postnatal lethalities. Newborns with maternal duplication (MatDp(dist2)) are long, th...
